ELECTRONIC MUSIC PRODUCTION

This program offers you the opportunity to build and hone the skills required of today’s music producers and engineers.

The department’s recording studios are equipped with professional-level systems and are fully geared to conduct classes, faculty demonstrations, visiting artiste presentations, and practical student projects.

The music covered encompasses a wide variety of styles and genres including Trance, Progressive, Dubstep, House & new genres such as Trap music etc. The course features a series of classroom lessons, enhanced by extensive use of audio & visual content, to describe musical, DAW, and synthesis techniques appropriate to the style. For each style, there is also a research and analysis component in which students learn to listen critically and develop the knowledge to adapt to innovations in technology and changes in music tastes.

COURSE STRUCTURE


1 Basic Of Audio

The course helps students understand the basic fundamentals of audio including frequency, amplitude, wave length, wave theory & everything related to audio physics. This provides a thorough grounding in all major digital workstations and software, which is essential in producing music electronically, if you are keen on a career as a Music Producer. Even those who have been in the domain for some time will also benefit from learning professional techniques from an experienced producer.

2 Music Theory & Composition

Covering the study of beats, bar & graph structure for music, study of keys, cords and scale, the course emphasizes the musical elements within the track. To make a career out of selling songs or making music, it is helpful to have an understanding of music theory, composition and arrangement techniques. The course also takes you through the basics of copyright, publishing and promotion.

3 Midi & Digital Theory

The module demonstrates the use of the latest instruments and plug-ins to develop and deliver productions and remixes that sound totally professional. The course includes in-depth sampling and synthesis, plus insider remix tips & tricks and an essential guide to mixing and mastering, which help open your eyes to the endless possibilities. The course encompasses the study of music production equipment & gear including synthesisers, samplers, effects & processors.

4 Recording Arts

Classes on session recording, various audio workstations, expose you to the theory and operation of recording and mixing equipment in a studio. The course will undergo various training & skill development for students to learn mixing techniques, multi track recording, learning how to record different instruments. Students will have the opportunity of working with musician’s, band’s & artist further leading into mixing & mastering techniques resulting in producing quality audio. The course will enable students to develop skills to be able to handle challenges in real recording session to develop creative production skills in sound design, artist collaboration, and the necessary etiquette.
